I begin with fleece procured from local farms. This is a Navajo-Churro fleece from Taylor-Bray Farm on Cape Cod.

Washing the wool is a slow process as agitation will tangle the fibers.

Patience yields beauty.

I use traditional wet felting techniques done
by hand.

Agitating the wool with warm water and soap felts together the microfibers.

The longer the felt is worked, the sturdier and thicker it becomes.

Hand building is done with felting needles. These are the only tools I use.

The barbed needles knit the microfibers into the felt.

I frame, mount or hang my pieces depending on the final form or the space in which they live.
